    Award Recipients Announced

    AKRON, OH (June 7, 2011) - On Friday June 24th, Womens Network of Northeast Ohio will host its 13th Annual "Women of Achievement Awards" Luncheon, at Portage Country Club in Akron.  This inspiring community event is held each year to increase awareness, understanding and appreciation of women and the doors they open for future generations.

     

    Four different awards will be presented.  The Women of Achievement Award will be presented to Dr. Judit E. Puskas, Professor in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, The University of Akron; Wendy Bolas, Sr. Vice President, FirstMerit Bank; Captain Sylvia D. Trundle, Akron Police Department; Carolyn B. Hofmann, Employee Involvement Coordinator, Akron Children's Hospital.  The Women's Network Founder's award will be presented to Stacey Zahoranski and Suzanne Hobson; and ACCESS, Inc. will receive the Dorothy O. Jackson award, for its demonstration of diversity in the workplace.  The Judith A. Resnik Scholarship will be awarded to Kelly McCary, 2011 graduate of Medina High School who will study engineering physics and nuclear engineering at Ohio State University this fall.

    Women’s Network of Northeast Ohio Solicits

    2011 Women of Achievement Nominations

    Nominations Accepted Through Friday, April 15

     

    AKRON, OH (February 28, 2011) -- Women’s Network has announced it will accept nominations for its 2011 Women of Achievement Awards through Friday, April 15. The awards, honoring women encouraging success and supporting the progress of women toward full participation in community life, will be presented at a gala luncheon on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Portage Country Club.  Established by the YWCA of Summit County in 1999 to increase an understanding and appreciation of women and the doors they open for future generations, Women’s Network has hosted the annual event since 2005.

    Three awards honor extraordinary women: The Women of Achievement Award, recognizing women who have gone beyond personal or career accomplishments to give back to their community; the Founders’ Award, honoring a Women’s Network member for her outstanding contributions; and the Judith Resnik Scholarship Award, presented to a young woman pursuing a career in math, science or engineering. The Dorothy O. Jackson Award recognizes a business or organization demonstrating a commitment to diversity in the workplace.
